Communications

Gillian joined NICCY in April 2024 and has over 15 years of experience in communications. She graduated from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh with a BA in PR and Cultural Studies.

Gillian returned to Northern Ireland to work in the arts sector, establishing her career as a Press Officer for Ormeau Baths Gallery and the Lyric Theatre. As a Communications Officer at Belfast Met, Gillian has promoted the achievements of young people and led campaigns encouraging young girls to pursue careers with STEM skills.

In 2017, Gillian moved into the private sector, which included leading the PR for the brand agency Mammoth. She returned to the public sector as a Communications Manager for Department for Communities and was also the Deputy Communications & Digital Content Officer for the NI Assembly Commission.

Gillian’s role at NICCY is to work with and support the Communications team. She supports the implementation of the Corporate Communications Strategy and assists the team to deliver on and promote Corporate and Business Plan activities. She also covers the office’s press office function and contributes to NICCY’s internal and external communications.

In her spare time, Gillian is watching movies, building LEGO sets with her three children or treading the boards with her local theatre group, South Bank Players, and singing with Lisburn Harmony Ladies Choir. She loves running with her husband and together they try to do long distance runs in Belfast and further afield throughout the year, babysitter depending!
